The USS Dubuque (LPD-8) was a Austin-class amphibious transport dock ship in the United States Navy. She was named after the city of Dubuque, Iowa and was commissioned in 1967. The ship participated in numerous military operations and exercises, including the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The USS Dubuque was designed to transport and land troops, equipment, and supplies by means of embarked landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles. She was also equipped to provide medical and logistical support for embarked forces.
In 2012, the USS Dubuque was decommissioned and later transferred to the Mexican Navy where she was commissioned as ARM Libertador. The ship continued to serve in various missions and operations with the Mexican Navy until she was retired in 2020.
